MyKayla Skinner is learning the hard way she picked a fight with the wrong team.
Simone Biles’ mic-drop Instagram post in which she threw heaping amounts of shade at Skinner, her former Olympic teammate was all anyone wanted to talk about the day after the USA women’s gymnastics team won gold in the artistic all-round team final on Tuesday.
Biles’ caption read “Lack of talent, lazy, Olympic champions” — a response to the dig Skinner levied against Biles’ teammates for being lazy and less talented. And while Biles herself perfectly put Skinner in her place, her teammate Suni Lee couldn’t help but pile on.
“Put a finger down if Simone Biles just ended you,” Lee commented in a since-deleted comment on Biles’ post along with a hand emoji, according to the New York Post.
Lee’s remarks were just the latest layer to this deepening plot, which escalated Wednesday afternoon when Skinner blocked Biles on Instagram.
While neither Biles, an eight-time Olympic medalist including five gold, nor Lee, a four-time medalist including two gold, one silver and one bronze, had nothing to prove to Skinner, who won a lone silver medal during her Olympic career, their social-media clap backs were likely savory moments of vindication for both.
