In 2024, the British royal family has faced one of its most challenging moments in recent years, due to the medical diagnoses of two of its most important members . However, some time ago the Crown was shaken by another situation of a more personal nature: the estrangement of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle . This issue, which is still present in the imagination of many, will be addressed in a new television documentary, for which the Duke of Sussex himself has given an interview.
Prince Harry spoke to journalist Rebacca Barry for ITV’s Tabloids On Trial about his legal battles against tabloids who have resorted to illegal tactics such as phone hacking.
In the documentary, a preview of which was shared on July 24, Prince William’s younger brother was questioned about whether his determination to take legal action against the editors of the tabloids contributed in some way to the “destruction of the relationship” with his family.
“Yes, it is certainly a central element ,” replied the Duke of Sussex. “But, you know, it is a difficult question to answer because everything I say about my family leads to a torrent of abuse from the press.”
“ I’ve made it very clear that this is something that needs to be done. It would be nice if we did it as a family . I think, again, from a service point of view and when you’re in a public role, these are the things that we should be doing for the greater good. But, you know, I’m doing this for my reasons,” added Harry, who has previously referred to the unfortunate death of his father, Princess Diana, who was being pursued by paparazzi before her fatal car accident.
“What do you think of his decision not to fight like you did?” Rebecca asked, referring again to the prince’s fight against the press that persecuted him and his wife. “I think everything that has happened has shown people what the truth of the matter is. For me, the mission continues . ”
In his new life, the battle continues
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle currently live in Montecito, California, with their two children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet , three. But the one who changed his residence has not stopped his efforts to find justice, having only just won a victory against the Mirror Group Newspapers in February, for which he was awarded the sum of 140,600 pounds (more than 180,000 dollars).
